About me

My name is Francesco Tarantino and I grew up on the west coast of Sicily, in a little seaside village: Porto Palo di Menfi.

The love for the sea was transmitted to me by my grandfather Ciccio, a historical fisherman and a deep connoisseur of the resources of the area, to whom I was very deeply linked. With him from an early age I have learned to know the sea, its beauties, the ancient fishing techniques and the stories of this little village. To him I owe the exploration of this splendid coast and its wonderful.

Over the years my interests have changed, and like many young people I left the Sicily in search of new opportunities and encounters, but the feeling for this sea couldn’t bring me back, allowing me to give shape to my passions.

Thus was born aMare Sicilia.
